Yahoo! Upgrades Email: A Digital Marketer’s Review
Yahoo! recently started rolling out the new version of Yahoo! Mail it has been beta-testing since last fall. I’ve been playing with it for a while, and I’ve found it to be a pretty cool digital marketing tool. The new design and organization makes for greater efficiency across all communication streams, including Facebook. Compared to Gmail, it’s SUPER easy to use and has new bells and whistles that aren’t too shabby either. Here’s what you can look forward to when you upgrade.
Faster email (2x faster): I definitely feel the torque when loading images and viewing digital marketing content from one email to the next.
The latest Yahoo! Mail spam-protection technology: This robust feature has the ability to block over 15 billion spam messages daily.
Easier-to-use design: Yahoo! Mail already has a great desktop email client-like feature, which allows you to open up emails in their own tabs, making it much easier to jump between messages and/or your inbox. (Gmail and Hotmail do not.) With this new version, it has emphasized this approach by turning off the message preview pane in the inbox. Nevertheless, you can turn it back on if you like.
Quick Reply (similar to Gmail, but easier to use): This cool feature allows you to respond instantly to Facebook notifications and email messages while you’re still in Yahoo! Mail. In other words, you don’t have to hit “Reply,” log into Facebook and get a new window to write your response. In short, Yahoo! Mail figured out a way to route your responses back to your Facebook account directly. This feature also works for Facebook alerts too. Seems Yahoo! Mail is jumping into social media digital marketing.
Unlimited email storage: This gives you the flexibility to digitally keep everything you want: messages, images, attachments—you name it.
Instant photo and video viewing in your email: Now, there’s no need to send the viewer to Flickr, Picassa or YouTube. Like Hotmail, Yahoo! Mail turns links to online videos and photos into embedded thumbnails and slideshows, making it easy for the viewer to see what you’ve posted.
Mobile mail: Conveniently, this works on any Internet-enabled device.
Larger file attachment capacity: You can now send up to 50 files or 100MB in a single email. That’s HUGE!
IM + SMS: Users can send instant or text messages right from your inbox. You can even IM your Facebook friends from your Yahoo! Mail.
Automatic organizer: This feature organizes low-priority messages like coupons into folders, so you quickly see more messages from friends and family in your inbox.
